Cochlear, one of the world’s leading Biotechnology Company’s for hearing implants, approached Danette Architecture to design a new Audio Clinic. The design included three acoustically treated Audio Clinic rooms, supporting office and administration facilities and a spacious reception area. The reception area includes a new reception desk, vibrant colours to reflect the Cochlear brand and a testing area for customers to be able to see and touch the products. The facility was designed to showcase Cochlear’s hearing products, providing a relaxing and informative atmosphere while catering for customers ranging from children to the elderly. The new Audio Clinic is located within the medical heart of Melbourne. The contractor, Symmetry Constructions worked alongside Danette’s Project Management team to strip out an existing Day Care Surgery and provide the new facility within the Clients requested programme. A structural Engineer and Building Surveyor were also part of the project team to assist with the design and completion of the project to meet the relevant statutory approvals within the State of Victoria. One key element of the design, is to allow customers to be able experience the wide range of products available from Cochlear. This achieved through the integration of the customer with the product through the use of touch screen technology.
